Welcome back to the AWS User Group Wellington Meetup Series. For our second meetup, we are continuing with some very hot topics and high callibre speakers. This session is all about programming in the AWS cloud!

Session Overview:
Amazon CodeCatalyst is a cloud-based collaboration space for software development teams. Amazon CodeCatalyst allows you to plan work, collaborate on code, and build, test, and deploy applications using continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools all in one place. In this session, Zack will discuss the features of Amazon CodeCatalyst and demonstrate how it works with a live demo.

Talk #2 – Coding with a Sidekick: How AI-powered Assistants are Revolutionizing Programming
Speaker: Seb Krueger (LinkedIn)

Session Overview:
AI-powered coding assistants are software programs that use AI to help developers write code more efficiently. In this talk you will learn about the state of the art code generators, their benefits and limitations. You will see demos of AWS CodeWhisperer, Github CoPilot, and others, using a variety of IDEs. As the field of AI continues to evolve, so too will the capabilities of these assistants, making them an increasingly valuable asset for developers of all skill levels. At the end of the session you will be equiped to hit the ground running with AI-powered coding assistants to level up your coding significantly, no matter if you are a beginner or 10x coding wizard.

About Seb (in his own words): Seb is the Head of Cloud Solution Technology in the CTO Office at Sourced Group, an Amdocs Company. Seb started coding when he was 10 years old and has been hooked ever since. The last 10 years of his career have been dedicated to architecting advanced enterprise solutions on AWS, most recently working as Principal Solution Architect at AWS. He was one of the original co-founders of the Wellington AWS User Group, and has been a leader in the AWS community across New Zealand since the very beginning. In recent years, his passion has been focused on building machine-learning solutions on AWS.

Windows (EC2) process monitoring using procstat and Cloudwatch

Hello everyone!
Please join us on Thursday the 2nd of March from 5.30pm.

Topics:

  • Windows (EC2) process monitoring using procstat and Cloudwatch – In this talk we will see how to use the procstat plugin with the CloudWatch Agent to monitor a specific process running on a Windows EC2 instance. There will also be a small live demo at the end of the talk.

Due to security protocols at AWS’ office you must complete this form 24 hours prior to the start of the event. It is compulsory to complete this form for all attendees to gain access into the venue. You will need to provide photo ID to building security upon arrival.

Our speakers this month:

  • Hitarth Asrani – an AWS Cloud Engineer at Leaven. His background consists of work done for clients in the non-profit, retail, and health technology spaces among others. He has been working with the AWS Cloud for just over 3 years and holds 4x AWS certs. Prior to his current role he worked as a Software Developer where he had exposure to using NodeJS, AWS and iOS.
